operationflyerThe Dickinson Police Department Animal Control and Second Chances volunteer organization recently teamed up with Oreo’s Animal Rescue, Paradise on the Prairie, and Zoo Zone Pets to present the City of Dickinson Animal Shelter’s first adoption fair & open house!

The fair took place at the shelter with  47 pets looking for families. The Farmer’s Daughter Cafe of South Heart provided refreshments and local reptile expert, Chip Indoe, delivered a well-received presentation called Reptile Education, which involved a variety of creatures including an alligator and a giant, yellow python. In addition to helping with handling the animals and organizing adoptions, Second Chances provided adoption packets complete with information about local veterinary and pet services as well as the proper care of pets.

The fair was a great success with over 80% of the eligible animals being successfully placed in new homes! What a wonderful way for the community to join together for the love of our pets!
