Want to help?

Contact the Second Chances Board to find out more information about how you can help! If you’d like to work directly with the animals at the shelter, complete this form and return it to the city shelter or the Dickinson Police Department. Once a background check has cleared you, you will be contacted by a staff member to arrange your orientation and get started helping!

What do volunteers do?DSC_0132

Volunteers do a wide variety of tasks, including arranging and hosting events and fundraisers to help local animals. Volunteers with Second Chances are also the “hands on” portion of animal rescue. Daily feeding and cleaning can be overwhelming when the shelter is full, so volunteers step up to help whenever they can. Other important jobs include walking dogs, socializing and playing with the animals, and helping the pets find homes! You can help a little or a lot  – don’t be deterred if you think you are too busy – some volunteers help every day while others are only able to help now and then when their schedules allow it. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Want to help but don’t think hands-on work is right for you?

That’s ok – you can donate to help provide assistance for local shelter animals! Second Chances helps spay and neuter stray animals, provide emergency medical care for pets in need, and provides education to the community about being a responsible pet owner!

Together we can make a difference in the lives of beloved pets everywhere!
